League 1999
This year League is truly a TEAM event. There is no Board 1, 2, etc. winner prizes. There will be a guaranteed prize fund of $300. We are appealing for other donations to make this prize fund even higher. The winning team will receive $200. The Second place team will receive $100. ALL the board members of the winning teams will share equally the prize fund won. That way the lowly boards are just as important as board 1.
There are 4 teams of 4 players each.
Team 1 -- Tom Smit, Freddie Malcome, Mike Bannister, and Peter Smit
Team 2 -- Henry Getz, Pete Karagianis, Matt Leali, and Cameron Fritz
Team 3 -- Carl Vero, Wayne Zimmerle, Chris Hendricksen, Stephen Burling
Team 4 -- Jim Vernon, Scott Small, Chuck Gauf, and Jon Daker
After one round the Teams all stand tied with scores of ½ each.
After Round 2 Team 3-Vero and Team 2-Getz are tied for first place.

Your game must be played before or on the night scheduled. Game results must be reported in writing or verbally to Fred or Wayne before or on the night the game is scheduled to be played.
If you don't play your game ahead of time or on the night scheduled, and if it is not reported before one hour into scheduled round, the one not showing up is forfeited with a zero and the one who showed up to play gets 4 points. If both players don't show up it is a double forfeit. Wins are 4 points, Draws are 2 points, Losses are 1 points, Forfeits are 0 points.
The U.S. CHESS FEDERATION'S OFFICIAL RULES OF CHESS, 4th edition will be followed except where we announce otherwise in writing before round 1 (time 7:30pm) and each round there after in posted writing and verbally before round start time 7:30pm. Clocks start at 7:30pm and games will be over no latter than 10:30pm (game 90). If your team losses a man due to death, you may use an ALTERNATE that is not more than 50 rating points higher than the man lost and any points lower than the deceased. I am volunteering to be an ALTERNATE because two of the nights planned for chess league I will be on trips that I can't cancel. That is the good thing about being an ALTERNATE. That way your team will at least get a one point loss rather than take a zero forfeit. We'll try to have as many ALTERNATES as possible. If you use an alternate and your team places in the money, the ALTERNATE joins equally in the money as he helped you get your points
